Storage & travel

Fridge, freezer, heat and flights.

Before mixing

The dry powder is the most stable form. Keep it cool, dry and out of light. The fridge is good; for long-term storage (months), many people use the freezer.

After mixing

  • Always refrigerate mixed vials (2–8°C / 36–46°F). Never freeze a mixed vial.
  • Keep it in its box or away from light.
  • Mixed with bacteriostatic water, most vials are typically used within about four weeks.
  • Pen cartridges are pre-mixed — treat them like a mixed vial.

Heat is the enemy

A car glovebox in summer or a sunny windowsill can ruin a vial. If a mixed vial has been warm for hours, or looks cloudy, don’t trust it.

Travelling

  • Use an insulated case with a cold pack — not in direct contact with ice.
  • Keep it in your carry-on, not checked luggage (holds can freeze or overheat).
  • Check the rules of your destination before you fly.
